Frequently Asked Questions
- What area does the app cover?
- Lot to See covers the seven-county Twin Cities metro area: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties. Over 1.1 million parcels are included.
- Where does the property data come from?
- All parcel data comes from the MetroGIS Regional Parcels dataset, which is compiled from county assessor records and is public domain.
- How often is the data updated?
- We update our dataset periodically from MetroGIS releases. Property values and ownership reflect the most recent available assessor records.
- Why do I see "no parcels" in some areas?
- Areas outside the seven-county metro are not yet covered. Within the metro, some parcels (like large public right-of-way features) are excluded from the dataset.
- The AR boundaries don't line up correctly. What can I do?
- AR alignment depends on GPS accuracy and ARKit's tracking quality. For best results: use the app outdoors with clear sky, wait for the coaching overlay to complete, and stand still for a few seconds before moving. Adjusting the Eye Height slider in Settings can also help.
- Does the app work offline?
- The map and parcel details require an internet connection. Previously loaded map tiles may be cached for a short time. Saved parcels are always available offline.
- How do I clear the tile cache?
- Go to Settings > About > Clear Map Tile Cache. This removes cached map tiles and can resolve display issues after updates.
